The UPMC Horizon Foundation is proud to celebrate the recipients of this year’s Kirk L. Works, M.D. Memorial Scholarship, supporting 2024 Mercer County high school graduates who are pursuing higher education in a healthcare related field.
Abigail Gardner is a graduate of Hickory High School and will be pursuing biomedical physics with a pre-med focus at John Carroll University.
Nolan Lapikas (pictured above) graduated from Sharpsville High School and will attend Westminster College, studying biology with a pre-med focus.
Alexandra Petrochko is a Hickory High School graduate who will be attending Duqesne University to study biochemistry with a pre-med focus.
Each of these deserving recipients was selected by the scholarship committee from a very competitive pool of applicants and received a $1,000 award courtesy of the Scholarship.
