2023 brings an opportunity to celebrate the rich history of our local hospital system! UPMC Horizon and UPMC Jameson have provided healthcare services to the residents of Mercer and Lawrence Counties for a long time, and this year marks a special anniversary for the UPMC Horizon. In 1998, the Horizon Health System became one of the first hospitals outside of Allegheny County to affiliate with UPMC, resulting in the creation of UPMC Horizon as you know it today.
This merger marked a significant milestone as Horizon became the 15th hospital to join the UPMC network. Over the past 25 years, UPMC Horizon has steadily grown to become a regional health care leader and one of the largest employers in the area, serving the people of Mercer County and the surrounding region.
As 2023 marks the 25-year anniversary of UPMC Horizon, we’re celebrating in style with a throw-back to 1998! Staff raided their closets and attics to dig out retro clothing for festivities, including 90’s Dress Up Day (complete with cake and a party!) to mark the occasion.
