The Children’s Advocacy Center of Lawrence County, part of UPMC Jameson, hosted it’s Steppin’ Up for Kids event on April 24th at the Riverwalk in New Castle, Pennsylvania. The annual event helps raise awareness that April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month and offers education, resources and contact information on identifying, preventing and addressing addressing child abuse while providing a fun and festive atmosphere for local families to enjoy an evening out.
This year’s event drew several hundred people to the Riverwalk, and included speakers, proclamations from area leaders, activities for children and families, giveaways, and food – all while raising funds from sponsors to support their mission.
Additionally, the CAC led a series of initiatives throughout April to further elevate awareness of Child Abuse Prevention Month. A t-shirt fundraiser invited supporters to wear their message of prevention proudly, while pinwheel gardens were planted across Lawrence County to serve as a visual reminder of the importance of safe, nurturing environments for all children. These efforts, combined with Steppin’ Up for Kids, reflect the CAC’s ongoing commitment to education, outreach, and hope in the fight against child abuse.
